Annual Kids Carnival

Last Saturday in September,  10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Our annual carnival is the biggest and most exciting event of the year, as KDC and KDT employees join together to provide food, fun and laughter for our patients and their families. In addition, information about community resources and services are made available to the families. The Kids Carnival occurs on the last Saturday every September. Featured entertainment includes shows by The River Performance Troupe of Houston, Down Syndrome Dance Company and karate demonstrations by All Star Martial Arts. Children love the moonwalks, petting zoo and rock wall, and the music and game booths keep the them smiling.

Special Olympics Young Athletes Program

Kids Developmental Clinic started participating in the Special Olympics Young Athletes Program in March 2011. We kicked off this good-spirited, inter-clinic competition between Kids Developmental Therapy, the Pasadena, West, North, and Southwest clinics  to showcase the abilities, skills, and sportsmanship that our young patients possess.

The Young Athletes Program with Kids Developmental Clinic has been a huge success, with approximately 90 participants competing in events such as the 60-yard dash, handball, and an obstacle course. We are looking forward to the next Young Athletes competition and we expect the number of participants to grow even more. Our Young Athletes will begin their training in January!

Water Days

Water Days provide another unique experience for our patients. Our therapists use water as a modality and to motivate our kids. Water Days occur on two days during one selected week each summer.

Summer Camps

Summer is a great time to offer our current patients short-term, themed-approaches to addressing the child's rehab goals.  Summer programs emphasize group interactions and allow for a more creative approach to treatment.  Camps are originated and facilitated by KDC therapist based on parent feedback and patient needs.  “Young Chefs,” “Surfing’ USA,” and “Pirates” are among some of the summer offerings designed to address socialization, language, handwriting, fine motor, and gross motor skills.
