Parents of KDC patients are invited to attend a FREE WORKSHOP to get the straight scoop on legal planning for busy parents. Come and learn how easy it is to make sure your kids will be taken care of by the people you want in the way you want if you are ever in an accident … and never taken into the arms of strangers.
Even if you have a Will in place, most parents have made at least one of 6 common mistakes. As a Mom and a Personal Family Lawyer with special training in the legal needs of parents, I’ve got the low down on what you need to know to fix these mistakes, if you’ve made them.
During this informative presentation, you'll discover how to:
Step 1: Name Guardians for both SHORT & LONG TERM – VERY IMPORTANT you’ll find
out why.
Step 2: Identify the Need for Future Care Planning –if your child won’t be able to be self-
sufficient, you’ll need to make plans to secure his/her future – learn how.
Step 3: Consider Adult Guardianship/Conservatorship and Alternatives – when your child
reaches age 18, you will no longer be entitled to make decisions about his/her finances
and personal care.
Step 4: Plan for and Secure Government Benefits – if your child has more than $2,000 in their
own name at age 18, they won’t be eligible for benefits until they “spend down” their
money – learn how to protect them from this.
Step 5: Create a Life Care Plan – develop an understanding of what the future care of your child
will cost and what your best options are for meeting those needs.
Being a parent of a Special Needs child comes with extra responsibilities, but now you can learn what to do to make sure your child will be okay if something were to happen to you. This educational seminar is being presented by Personal Family Lawyer and Mom, Kim Hegwood, who is a frequent speaker on life and estate planning for families.
As an added bonus, all those who attend will be eligible for the raffle for a free copy of the bestselling book “Wear Clean Underwear! A Fast, Fun, Friendly – and Essential – Guide to Legal Planning for Busy Parents”. Call to reserve your space now at (713)668-6690.
DINNER WILL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL ATTENDEES. ADULTS ONLY. No Babysitting will be available and children will not be allowed to attend. Please make arrangements for your children for the time of the meeting.

SEED
Stimulating and Enhancing
Early Development
Our Mission Statement: To improve early development by enhancing the bonds between at-risk babies and parents.
Factors that place a baby at risk for developmental delay may include prematurity, chromosomal abnormalities, genetic or congenital disorders, respiratory distress as a newborn, chronic infections, and other neonatal conditions. When a baby is demonstrating developmental delays, the parent/baby bond requires special attention. Developing these bonds early in life will have a positive impact on development.
SEED is a unique program that focuses on enhancing the bond between the at risk baby and the parents during the early development period. The SEED program focuses on bridging the gap between the current functioning of an at-risk baby and their true potential. Pediatric therapists evaluate each baby to identify common delays in each of these developmental areas: motor development, feeding, communication, and sensory processing.
SEED provides education and support to families and teaches them interventions that use age appropriate activities to further the
infant’s social, physical, and emotional development.
SEED is a 8 week program where parents and their babies attend small group sessions once a week. To maximize family relationships and participation in each session, there is a ratio of 2 baby/parent groups to one therapist. This program provides a supportive and positive environment where families are encouraged to interact and ask questions.
Each one hour session will focus on how touch, movement, play, nurturing, safety and family life are all integral to the unique development of the baby.
SEED topics will include:
Infant massage
Tummy Time
Play and appropriate toys
SIDS precautions
Motor Development
Nutrition and Feeding
Sensory Development
Car Seat Safety
Parent support groups and resources
Every session is a special experience between the parent and his/her baby which will continue beyond this program.
Upon completion of the SEED program, families will have the skills and knowledge to enhance and further their baby’s development and to strengthen the bond within their baby within the family environment. Families will be provided with any recommendations for additional formal therapy to address their baby’s developmental delays, if needed.
Process for enrollment:
Call 713-774-5437 to enroll for the next available session.
A prescription from a pediatrician or primary care physician will be required.
The SEED program requires at least one parent to be present and participate with his/her baby at all times.
